Do you remember your first love? I do — and before I ever fell for a boy, I fell for the Caribbean. Now, I’m a writer who won’t shut up about it. I’m Jirah Nicole — the face, voice, and creator behind Jirah Nicole TV, a travel lifestyle brand that blends my love for Latin American and Caribbean destinations with my obsession for all things vintage and Old Hollywood. My mission is to inspire you to do, see, and be more through the lens of travel — because travel looks good on you.

I’m a self-proclaimed “wanna-be island girl” with a deep love for Latin American and Caribbean cultures, and I’m passionate about helping travelers move beyond the typical tourist lens to fully immerse themselves in the local life, culture, and hidden gems each destination has to offer. When I’m not exploring the Caribbean or Latin America, you’ll find me “time traveling” through different eras — I’m endlessly inspired by retro places and the glamour of Old Hollywood. Why I Started This Blog

  • BIT BY THE TRAVEL BUG
    Ever since I was a little kid, my family would often take trips together, and those experiences sparked my love for travel. (I was bit by the travel bug at 7 years old.) Out of all the places we visited, I always found myself yearning to return to Latin America and the Caribbean. There’s something about the people, the culture, the food, and the island lifestyle that always spoke to me and kept me coming back. It was during these travels that I fell in love with the destinations in these regions and wanted to share my experiences, showing others the magic of these destinations and how they could easily fall in love too. 
  • A VINTAGE TWIST ON MODERN TRAVEL
    As I explored new destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean, I began to infuse my trips with a bit of vintage flair, dressing up in retro swimsuits or visiting retro destinations and iconic spots like Altos de Chavón, where the likes of Frank Sinatra performed often. I’ve always been an old soul with a deep appreciation for Old Hollywood, classic films, old sitcoms, different decades and eras, and the timeless glamour of vintage style.
  • THE BIRTH OF A BLOG
    This blog was born from my desire to combine all these loves into one place—to share the beauty of Latin America and the Caribbean and help people plan their trips, while adding a touch of Old Hollywood and vintage nostalgia to the mix. So, don’t be surprised if you spot me in a ’50s swimsuit lounging by the beach in the Dominican Republic or taking a salsa class in a dance studio in my ’80s workout gear in Colombia.
  • WHY I DO THIS
    But there’s a bigger reason why I do this—something I’ve noticed after countless conversations with so many people: The majority of Americans don’t travel enough. Less than half of us hold a valid passport, and only about 30% have visited more than five countries. This statistic is shocking but not surprising and when you think about it: travel should be a right, not a luxury.
  • AMERICAN OVERWORK CULTURE AND THE NEED FOR TRAVEL
    In a country that prides itself on being the land of opportunity, the lack of travel is tied to what I call the American Overwork Culture. We prioritize work above all else, and as a result, we miss out on the amazing transformative experiences that travel offers. But I’m here to show you that travel can—and should—be a priority.
  • Through my blog, I want to inspire you to do, see, and be more through the lens of travel. And in Latin America and the Caribbean, you have the opportunity to do that and more. Whether it’s taking a bomba dance class in Puerto Rico, attending the largest carnival festival in Brazil, playing dominoes with locals in the Dominican Republic, or a souvenir paint workshop in Curacao, this blog is dedicated to showing you how to embrace local cultures and traditions and explore beyond the typical tourist attractions.
  • A WORLD WITH MORE TRAVEL AND MORE LEISURE
    My vision is a world with more travel and leisure. A world where individuals, including those committed to a 9-to-5 work structure, aren’t penalized for prioritizing vacation. Ultimately, I hope my stories, blog posts, and coconut diaries inspire you to do, see, and be more because travel looks good on you!
